How it works

The supplier's price is brought up to a CIF value by adding origin charges (for ex-works prices), freight and insurance. You pay that at your bank's rate. Customs duty is charged on the same value at the customs exchange rate. Clearance and delivery costs are added in rupees. IGST counts as a cost only if you aren't registered for GST.

The example figures and rates are placeholders; replace them with your own quotes and the rates for your tariff code. See India's import duty explained for how duty is worked out, or the import duty calculator for the duty alone.
